no. not my number ninety. my friend's number ninety.
i'm pretty set in my ways. if we go to saltgrass steakhouse for dinner, for example, i will order unsweetened iced tea, tortilla soup, chicken friend steak and a sweet potato. every. single. time. if we go to red robin, i will either get a chocolate milkshake and/or a coke, possibly a stack of onion rings and either the red robin gourmet cheeseburger with american cheese and without pickles or onions or the royal red robin burger. if it's carrabba's, i'll get iced tea and the mezzaluna pasta. it's rare that i will venture outside of my culinary comfort zone. mostly because a) i don't mind being a creature of habit, and b) if i know i like it, why bother screwing around with something else?
my friend kathryn, on the other hand ... she's one gutsy broad. and i can say this with sheer conviction even though i've not met her in person (she is in chicago, and i am in houston ... sort of).
there's this thing called the omnivore's one hundred which she found on some guy name'd andrew's blog, very good taste.
and one day kathryn decided she was going to eat everything on that list.
so it's only a hundred things. no big deal, right? it's got things on there like huevos rancheros, fresh wildberries, rice and beans, dulche de leche and mcdonald's big mac meal. easy peasy, right?
no. no, because it's also got things on there like snake and crocodile and roadkill.
and why am i telling you about this?
because one of things on that list is criollo chocolate, the rarest in the world.
and she is giving some away on her blog, omnivore100project. it's not a big giveaway. i certainly don't want to give the illusion that it is. i'm mentioning her blog today partly because of that bit of chocolate that she wants to share with someone else, but more because i love reading her posts. i love that she is so adventurous. have a look at her blog. i think you'll like what you find.

Oh my gosh, I am blushing right now! Thank you so much!!! :) I got your email about the SITS thing in Dallas. At the moment, I think it'll have to be a no, just because I have no idea what my situation will be in Sept (work-wise, house-wise, etc.) and also a trip to Dallas would be a pretty big jaunt. But I'll definitely keep it in mind- thanks for the invite!
